Smoothing paths

You can reduce the number of nodes on a path while retaining the approximate shape. This is often helpful if you need to simplify a path drawn with the Paintbrush tool.

To smooth any selected path (or paths), click Simplify Path on the Object menu. This opens the  Simplify Path dialog box, which lets you select an amount in the Reduce By box from 10% to 90%. The lower the number, the more closely the new smoothed path will be to the original. The higher the value, the fewer nodes there will be on the final path.

After you click OK, Expression Design redraws the path with new Bezier curves.

The figures to the right have been simplified with Smoothness values of 10%, 30%, and 80%.
